As a large area of Afghanistan tumbles to the Taliban at a warning speed, a video showing a “sad Afghan young lady” crying about her bleak future has gone viral on Twitter.
The unidentified young lady says through tears in the 45-second video clip: “We don’t count because we were born in Afghanistan,”
Take a look at the video below:
The young girl added: “No one cares about us, We’ll die slowly in history,”
The emotional video, which presently has more than 440,000 views on Twitter, was first shared by human rights activist Masih Alinejad. “My heart breaks for women of Afghanistan,” she wrote in a post along with the video. “The world has failed them.”
Under the past time of Taliban rule, Afghan ladies were not permitted to work, study, or be treated by males doctors except if joined by a male chaperone. The individuals who abused the sexist laws confronted detainment, public beating, and even execution.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday that the Taliban is now forcing extreme limitations on ladies’ basic liberties in the regions where they have control at the moment.
He said: “It is particularly horrifying and heart-breaking to see reports of the hard-won rights of Afghan girls and women being ripped away from them,”
Several people reacted to this video:
One said: So sad you can really see the pain in her eyes. Pulling out while the region was so unstable was/is such a bad idea
A second one added: What is happening in Afghanistan is one of the biggest tragedies facing the world right now. Why are we not all united in confronting this gross violation of human rights and violence against women and girls?
While a third one said: The policy of setting a random date for withdrawal and going ahead with it regardless of the situation on the ground is causing a humanitarian disaster. We are pulling a sick joke on the generation of young Afghans who grew up without the Taliban’s oppressive rule.
